In 1969, enterprising housewife Fely Pelaez began making a delicious Smoked Country Ham at her home in Del Monte Bukidnon. That year, family and friends placed orders so that they could have her ham for Noche Buena. And so what began as a culinary endeavor became a Cottage industry.

SLERS, an acronym of her children’s names became her brand name. The venture started with two workers; today, it is an organization that employs about 100 men and women.

By maintaining the quality and excellence of its ham and other meat products, the production and reputation of SLERS grew, and today, it is a household name and a favorite pasalubong of visitors to Cagayan de Oro.

SLERS is a dynamic organization looking to expand present products and markets. In January of 2006, it started chicharon production. By August of the same year, it opened SLERS Express Meals – a Quick Service Restaurant that simultaneously acts as a one stop shop for SLERS products.

Recently, SLERS started selling chicharon from kiosks around Cagayan de Oro. Seizing an opportunity when it sees good one, the idea of Franchising became a new focus.
